Balanced Living Is Preferable
How many people do you know that actually lead a balanced lifestyle? Most folks are too busy living life everyday to even think about balance. From racing to daycare, then off to work, out for a lunch meeting, back to pick up kids and deposit them at home before running off to the gym for a quick workout before dinner. That schedule could be construed to be “normal” simply because it has been done for so long. Living a balanced life takes effort, thought and alot of planning to come to fruition.
To me, balanced living means making conscious decisions to give yourself what you need on a daily basis. It doesn’t mean that you will get around to it on Friday if everything works out ok the other days of the week, it means being committed to making it happen daily. I struggled with this concept and still do, but I know that I am more joyful, happy, content and focused when I gift myself the time to allocate the moments of my day and make time for myself within the confines of each day.
I am a list maker and a scheduler, so for me it is as simple as putting it into my calendar. Whether it is a massage, lunch with a friend, a short walk during the lunch hour or simply sitting down with a nice cup of coffee for fifteen minutes to give my mind a break, I can incorporate these small things into my day to help balance out the stresses of everyday living. I encourage you to challenge yourself for a week. Consciously plan out some simple time slots for yourself; it can be a wonderfully simple thing to do with phenomenal benefits.
