Music For Therapy
Have you ever heard a song on the radio that transported you back in time for a full on mental, physical and visual experience? Music has a way of enveloping us and taking us on a journey that can be very therapeutic. I have rather fond memories of the 70’s and 80’s so I tend to listen to many of the oldies but goodies because they take me back to wonderful times and experiences that I remember lovingly. There can also be certain songs that elicit some not so fond memories, but the beauty of it is that we can choose what we listen to for the most part, especially if we are in the comfort and safety of our own home. I know for myself, if I am down, sad, a bit depressed or just out of sorts, I have specific artists and songs that pull me up and out of my situation and elevate me to that higher vibration needed to move out of my funk. Some people prefer melodic tunes, others show tunes, and others like full on rock and roll. Whatever your preference, try using music for therapy instead of other options first; you might just find what you needed all along. Not only can it change your mood, it can often change your entire perspective on a situation. Music can be magical.
