Because Lying Isn’t Prudent
Do you know people who are prone to lying from time to time? Even little “white lies” that are seemingly harmless at the time, can still have a negative impact on a situation and have far reaching consequences even though that was not the original intention. I know women who go and have beauty treatments but lie to their mates and pay cash so they will never know. Other women are shopaholics and hide their treasures from their partners, husbands or children for fear of some sort of retribution. Why has it become so easy for people to tell their little “white lies”? One thing to consider is that perpetuating a lie can be hard work. Trying to remember what you told one person and then the next person seems exhausting to me. There are many kinds of lies. Lies to protect a loved one, lies with intention to deceive, lies to cover up mistakes or avoid ownership of a problem and on and on. No one is perfect so there will always be lies in some fashion to deal with from time to time. There are many things to consider such as who the recipient is of the lie, what impact might it have on that person or their loved ones and is the lie really necessary at all. Most times the answer is a resounding NO. There are many perspectives to this topic that are worthy of consideration.
