Our “Therapeutic Massage” can fall anywhere on this pressure scale. If you are wanting a purely relaxation massage please be sure to pick a therapists who falls into levels 2 through 5 . Our scale categorizes the massage pressure into 10 different levels. Please note that each therapist has been rated on their ability to perform on this scale in the “Meet the Therapist” under the “Home” tab.
Relaxation includes levels 2-5 and Therapeutic includes levels 2-10. A massage therapist performing a therapeutic massage will typically use relaxation techniques to prepare the body for a more deep tissue massage and will spend most of their time in levels 6-10.
Relaxation massage is typically a full body massage that is intended to promote relaxation and circulation. This massage includes long broad strokes over muscle groups.
Therapeutic massage incorporates a few relaxation techniques to warm the muscle groups, then moves into a more therapeutic range and targets specific muscles. This massage is tailored to your needs specifically, therefore you can have the therapist work on whichever areas of the body you prefer.
If you are interested in a massage to prevent sports injury, address sport-specific concerns, or to help with muscle recovery after sports, consider getting a Therapeutic Massage.
Our “Neuromuscular Massages” are performed by Licensed Massage Therapists (LMTs) who have approximately 300 additional hours of training and have procured a certification as a Neuromuscular Massage Therapist (NMT) or have worked in the field for 10+ years and took continuing education courses to complete their education. These therapists can target areas of the body that have more severe disfunction including Ischemia, Neural Entrapment or Compression and Myofascial Trigger Points. Neuromuscular Massage can treat a wide array of chronic pain conditions. Consider this massage when you are need of a more “medical” massage.
